The dancers of Dalton Arts Project’s Nutcracker recently took a break from rehearsals to write over 250 cards for the American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes program which allowed them to “Give Something That Means Something” by sending cards of thanks and support to the members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families. Holiday cards of the original Nutcracker art were filled with thanks, encouragement and holiday cheer from appreciative dancers. The cards will be distributed by the Red Cross to servicemen far away from home this holiday season.

Nutcracker Tea and Sweets 2017 - Sept. 17th 2:00-4:00

Dalton Arts Project will host its Nutcracker fundraising kickoff event, the Nutcracker Tea and Sweets, on Sunday, September 17th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Dance Theatre of Dalton studios, 411 North Park Drive.   Mothers, daughters, grandmothers, and others are invited to this afternoon tea of fun, food, fashion and auctions.

The event’s fashion show will feature clothes from C.C. and Company, Creative Sewing, Cotton and Twine Boutique, Bugs and Kisses, the Fitting Room, Shrimp and Grits and the DANCE Boutique.  There will be silent auctions and raffles with more than fifty packaged items donated by local businesses.  All those in attendance will also create a unique headband for the tea, decorate a tea cake and fill a bag at the “Candy Barre” sponsored by Direct Packaging.  A preview of this year's Nutcracker Boutique items will be available for purchase.

Members of Dalton Dance Company will be dressed up as Nutcracker characters for photo opportunities and will participate in the fashion show along with younger dancers.

Tickets to this event $15 are each. All proceeds benefit Nutcracker 2017 to be presented at Dalton High School Theatre on December 8, 9, 15, and 16.  For more information, please call Dalton Arts Project at 706-529-ARTS (2787).
